How We Review Crypto Products at Bullrank

Real deposits. Real trades. Real withdrawals. No press-release reviews.

In a sea of paid shills, AI-generated fluff, and marketing copy disguised as advice, trust is the only metric that matters.

We created our review methodology to solve a simple problem: most crypto reviews are written by people who haven’t actually used the product.

At Bullrank, we are crypto users first and analysts second. We don’t just read the documentation; we deposit funds, execute trades, test customer support, and stress-test the features so you don’t have to learn the hard way.

Here is exactly how we build our reviews, how our scoring system works, and how we keep the lights on.

1. Our “Skin in the Game” Testing Process

We do not publish reviews based solely on press releases or website claims. Every review goes through a rigorous four-step lifecycle before it reaches you.

Step 1: Security Audit

Before we connect a wallet or deposit a cent, we investigate the safety profile.

  • Smart Contract Audits — We verify who audited the code and check for unresolved issues.
  • Team Anonymity — Doxxed or pseudonymous? It changes our risk assessment.
  • Track Record — Past exploits, hacks, or regulatory fines.
  • Custody — Proof of Reserves (CEXs) or self-custody mechanisms (wallets).

Step 2: Live Testing

We use the product exactly how you would.

  • Real Deposits — We fund accounts with real crypto or fiat to test speed and friction.
  • Execution — We make trades to test slippage, spread, and stability.
  • Withdrawals — If we can’t get money out quickly, the product fails.
  • Support — Anonymous tickets to test response time and helpfulness.

Step 3: Competitor Comparison

A product doesn’t exist in a vacuum. We compare every tool against its direct rivals.

Example: We don’t compare a Telegram Bot to Coinbase. We compare it to other Telegram bots on speed, fees, and failure rates.

Step 4: Ongoing Updates

Crypto moves fast. We revisit our top reviews regularly to update fee structures, new features, or security changes. Every review displays both the original publish date and the most recent update date so readers always know how current the information is.

2. Our Scoring System Explained

We use a strict 1–10 scale. This isn’t a “participation trophy” system where everything gets a 9.

The Scale

8.0–8.9ExcellentHighly recommended with minor, negligible flaws.
7.0–7.9GoodA solid choice, but there are better options or specific drawbacks.
5.0–6.9AverageUsable, but likely has high fees, clunky UI, or slow support.
3.0–4.9Below AverageUse only for very specific niche cases; generally not recommended.
1.0–2.9AvoidSecurity risks, predatory fees, or broken features.

3. Editorial Ethics & Sourcing

We believe transparency is the foundation of credible reviews. Here is where we stand:

No Paid Reviews

Projects cannot pay us to write a review. All reviews are initiated by our editorial team based on market interest.

Affiliate Disclosure

We are a reader-supported site. We include referral links to products we review. If you sign up through our link, we may earn a commission.

No Bias

Our affiliate relationships do not influence the score. We have given low scores to partners and high scores to products that pay us nothing. If a product has high fees or security holes, we will tell you, regardless of a partnership.

Sourcing

We prioritize primary sources. We read the whitepapers, check the on-chain data, and verify regulatory filings directly. We do not rely on other aggregators for our data.

4. Corrections & Updates

We strive for 100% accuracy, but crypto changes daily.

  • If you spot an error in fees, features, or data, please contact us.
  • We aim to audit our top 20 reviews quarterly to ensure they reflect the current market state.
